What is The Care Pod?

The Care Pod is a specialist dementia respite service designed with you in mind. We understand that caring for someone with dementia can be overwhelming, and you deserve reliable support that doesn't come with endless paperwork or lengthy waiting lists.

Our flexible sessions run in local council and community buildings, keeping costs low whilst delivering the professional care your loved one deserves. No long service agreements. No postcode lottery. Just compassionate, expert support when you need it most.

What We Do

At The Care Pod, we understand that a dementia diagnosis can feel overwhelming for both individuals and their families. That’s why we focus on early intervention and preventative wellbeing support — helping people stay active, connected, and independent from the very start.

Supporting Mental Wellbeing

A dementia diagnosis can bring uncertainty, low mood, or anxiety. We provide emotional support and dementia-friendly activities that help people maintain confidence, identity, and social connection.

Quality Respite

Caring for a loved one is demanding. Our flexible sessions give carers valuable time to rest and recharge, knowing their loved one is safe, engaged, and supported.

Early Awareness & Monitoring

Through gentle wellbeing checks and memory-based activities, our staff and volunteer professionals help to spot early changes and encourage timely follow-up with health teams. This proactive approach supports stability and peace of mind.

Preventing Crises

By providing stimulating, structured sessions in a community setting, we help reduce avoidable health concerns and prevent unnecessary hospital admissions.

Our Team

What sets The Care Pod apart is our blend of staff, volunteers, and specialist supporters — each adding expertise to promote wellbeing and independence.

  • Volunteer Registered Nurse: Provides preventative wellbeing checks (hydration, mobility, blood pressure) and guidance for carers.

  • Psychological Support: Volunteer psychologist and CST-trained facilitators lead reminiscence and memory sessions, based on NICE-recommended approaches.

  • Therapy & Wellbeing Practitioners: Yoga, movement, music, and creative specialists promote mobility, expression, and joy.

  • Community Links: We align with local health and social care priorities, encouraging families to stay connected with GPs and community teams.

Why Choose the Care Pod

  • Holistic Early Intervention: We focus on prevention and stability, not crisis.

  • Person-Centred Care: Each visitor has a personalised care plan reflecting their preferences, routines, and triggers.

  • Family-Focused: We support carers with respite, guidance, and reassurance.

  • Community-Based: Familiar, local environments that promote independence and social connection.

  • Ongoing Partnership: Dementia is a journey — we adapt as needs change, so families are never alone.

At The Care Pod, we’re partners in prevention — combining evidence-based therapies with a caring community approach, so families can feel confident, supported, and never alone.
