Our story begins in the heart of Selsey, with a place many of you already know and love: Buddies Day Centre. Buddies has become a cornerstone of our community, a vibrant and welcoming space dedicated to enriching the lives of individuals who join us. It was built on a simple, powerful idea: to provide a safe, stimulating, and joyful environment where everyone feels valued and supported.
The success and community spirit fostered at Buddies sparked a bigger vision. We saw how much our members thrived with personalised, engaging support and realised this unique model of care could benefit even more people in different ways. We asked ourselves: how can we build on this foundation of trust and connection to offer something new, yet familiar?
The answer was the Care Pod.
Care Pod Selsey is the natural evolution of Buddies Day Centre. It’s our flagship location, born from the very same ethos of compassion, inclusion, and empowerment that has defined Buddies. We took everything that makes Buddies special, the dedicated team, the strong community bonds, the focus on individual well-being, and channelled it into a fresh, flexible approach to day care.
By becoming our first Care Pod, Selsey now offers an even wider range of activities and experiences, all designed to promote independence, learning, and fun. It represents the start of a new chapter, not just for us, but for the entire community we are so proud to serve.

Making The Care Pod Affordable with Attendance Allowance
We have set our session prices so they align closely with Attendance Allowance, the benefit designed to help older people with day-to-day support needs. This means that in most cases, families can use Attendance Allowance to cover the cost of regular visits to The Care Pod.

Lower rate Attendance Allowance (£72.65 per week)

The Lower Rate Attendance Allowance provides up to 5 hours (10am–3pm including lunch) each week.

Higher rate Attendance Allowance (£108.55 per week)

The Higher Rate Attendance Allowance provides up to 8 hours of support, including lunch over two days each week.
By linking our costs to the Attendance Allowance, we aim to keep The Care Pod both accessible and sustainable, giving families peace of mind that specialist dementia and wellbeing support is within reach.
